What a renovated unit near Main Street really means

Inside the renovation at 113 Marshall St: white cabinetry, stainless appliances, new flooring, recessed lighting, and three bedrooms per unit, with closets that actually close.

The renovation, room by room

A renovated rental can mean a coat of paint and a new fridge. What I mean when I say the units at 113 Marshall St are renovated is that the finishes were done as a single, honest project: white cabinetry, dark counters, stainless stove and refrigerator, new wood-look flooring through every room, and recessed lighting in the ceiling.

Each floor is offered as its own unit, and both are available to rent: a first-floor three-bedroom and a second-floor three-bedroom. The kitchen opens into the living room, so the unit reads as one bright space. The primary bedroom with its own full bathroom sits on one floor, and every bedroom has a large closet. Two full baths serve the three bedrooms of that unit, both freshly tiled and vanitied.

Why two units, and how to use them

Two floors for rent opens up arrangements a single apartment cannot. A family can rent the whole property and take both floors. Two households can take one floor each, with no shared staircase to negotiate. An owner-occupant can live on one floor and rent the other to help carry the costs. However you split it, both floors carry the same renovated finishes: new flooring, stainless steel appliances, and recessed lighting.

Both units sit close to the Main Street corridor, the Route 80 and Route 46 ramps, and a bus stop that runs into New York City, so each floor works on its own or as part of the whole property.

What to look for when you visit

Bring a tape measure for furniture, open every closet door, and run the water in the baths of the unit you plan to see. Stainless appliances and new flooring are easy to verify with your own eyes. Then walk out the front door and time the bus stop and the Route 80 ramps yourself, because the neighborhood is the other half of this address.
